This arcane work contains a stunning selection of previously unpublished photographs, collages, drawings, musical scores, and short texts by this incredibly talented artist, who died only two years after its publication. The collection spans thirty years of creative output, and includes images and texts published here for the first time. "Son of the Box," published in 1997 and based on an earlier work of 1994 "The Box," has 38 square cards measuring 12 cm on a side. Of these, one gives the title; one gives the copyright info; and five offer brief texts. The remaining cards have photos, collages, cut paper, paintings, and drawings. Sommer selected the works. from his own archives when he was in his 90s. "Son of the Box" includes images and texts published for the first time and only a single printing of 500 hand-numbered copies. |
