Hardcover, 6.75x11.5 inches, 32 pages, 21 four-color plates

“Daniel Robinson's urban landscapes...combine the romance of industry that dates back to the 1930s with the early light-and-shadow soaked paintings of de Chirico. It’s always late afternoon or dusk in Robinson’s paintings…The cylinders and cubes of the buildings boldly shape his space, which he then softens with leafy foregrounds or drifting clouds. But it's the honey of the slanting sun and the shadows it casts that give these paintings a poignant timelessness. Robinson doesn't deliberate industry's potential nor rue its demise. He's simply in love with its forms.” — Cate McQuaid, The Boston Globe

Nazraeli Press is delighted to present a new artist’s book of paintings by Daniel Robinson, one of America’s most respected contemporary landscape painters. Created following an extended visit to California’s Central Coast, this remarkable body of work captures an artist responding to unfamiliar terrain with extraordinary patience, technical mastery, and profound respect for the natural world.

For more than four decades, Robinson has dedicated himself to the discipline of observation. His paintings begin long before the first brushstroke through field sketches, preliminary watercolor studies, photographs, and repeated visits to a location. His easel is often in place before the light reaches its desired moment, allowing him to witness the subtle transformations that define a landscape. Rather than chasing dramatic effects, Robinson relies on preparation, instinct, and an intimate understanding of color and atmosphere to create paintings that feel both immediate and enduring. California’s Central Coast presented Robinson with an entirely new landscape to explore. Its rolling hills, dramatic coastline, ancient oaks, working ranches, and shifting marine light offered endless possibilities for discovery. Approaching this new terrain with humility and curiosity, Robinson allowed the landscape to reveal itself over time. The resulting paintings possess the confidence of an artist at the height of his powers while retaining the excitement of first discovery.

46 to Harmony is printed in a limited edition of 500 numbered copies and bound in raw, silkscreened binder’s boards. It is published on the occasion of an exhibition of the same title at Peter Fetterman Gallery in November 2026.
