We are excited to announce a deluxe portfolio of Mike Brodie’s Failing. This photographic diary documented a decade of Brodie’s life marked by love, heartbreak, loss, and grief, focusing on the darker side of the American dream, addiction, and the lives of fellow wanderers. It provided a vivid contrast to the artist’s earlier, more romanticized work. Produced by La Sena Gallery, Los Angeles – a joint venture by Nazraeli Press and Setanta Books – Failing comprises 10 exhibition-quality prints (printed in Hahnemühle Photorag) measuring 15x20 inches. Each print is signed and numbered by the artist on verso.
Featuring a gloss-foil X accent on the left interior black panel. The prints are cradled within a raised black panel bed, precisely engineered for a flawless fit, and finished with a black satin ribbon to allow effortless, elegant retrieval.
Born in 1985, Mike Brodie began photographing when he was given a Polaroid camera in 2004. Working under the moniker 'The Polaroid Kidd,' Brodie spent the next four years circumambulating the United States, amassing an archive of photographs that make up one of the few, true collections of American travel photography. Brodie made work in the tradition of photographers like Robert Frank, William Eggleston and Stephen Shore, but having never undergone any formal training, he always remained untethered to the pressures and expectations of art market.
Mike Brodie’s work has been widely exhibited and published internationally. It is included in the permanent collections of such major institutions as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation;
Berkeley Museum of Art, California; and The Sir Elton John Photography Collection.
Please note this edition will go up in increments of $250 for each copy sold
